Dang! If I had been paying attention, I would have saved the Falcon 9 post for today.
Fitting, given as today is when the commercial rocket is scheduled to launch (weather permitting of course,) and coincidentally, the first time Buster sits behind the controls of his very own rocket!
But sadly, synchronicity was not to be.
The other interesting tidbit about this strip, lies in the fact that when I drew the original 30 strips for Buster, this is the one I realized things had gone astray to some degree. Things had meandered for far too long and Buster wasn’t doing much, so I decided to start over.
Lest I throw away too much work, I tried to write in the older material in a condensed form, however, this strip is virtually unchanged. The only difference was in the dialogue. In the original Buster story, Buster was a career Rocket Man, not a learning up and comer, Argo was merely grimacing at a weak joke, not the anticipation of great bodily harm.
Now instead, it is you the reader grimacing, but hopefully out of sympathy for Buster’s poor teacher.
